FAQ

Questions about AI voice agents

What is an AI voice agent?

An AI voice agent is software that answers phone calls by talking with callers much like a person would. It converts the caller’s speech to text to understand the request, builds an answer from your knowledge base and replies out loud. In Speakline, the agent speaks Turkish, answers questions, takes appointment requests and hands the call to your team with a summary when needed.

How is a voice agent different from a traditional IVR?

A traditional IVR asks callers to press keys and walks them through pre-recorded menus. A voice agent understands what callers say in their own words, answers based on the question and collects the details it needs during the conversation. In Speakline you can combine the two: build an IVR menu in your call flow and hand specific steps over to the AI agent.

When does the agent hand a call over to a person?

You decide. When a caller asks for a member of staff, when the topic goes beyond what the agent is allowed to handle, or when a condition you have defined is met, the call moves to the right queue. The operator receives it together with a summary of the conversation, so the caller doesn’t have to repeat themselves.

What does the agent base its answers on?

The agent works from the knowledge base you add and the script you approve: opening hours, services, location, common questions and so on. You set the greeting, the limits of the conversation and the details it should collect. If your calendar or your own system is connected, it can check appointment availability; if not, it passes the request to your team.

Can we use the voice agent with our existing phone number?

Yes. You can port your current business number to Speakline, or keep it with your carrier and connect the line to Speakline (BYOC). Your customers keep calling the number they know, and incoming calls are routed to the voice agent or your team according to the rules in your call flow. We’ll agree on the right setup for your business during the demo.
