Missed call cost calculator

Estimate how much revenue unanswered and unreturned calls may cost you each month, using your own numbers. The calculation runs in your browser: no sign-up, and your values are never sent anywhere.

Your numbers

The starting values are examples only, not industry data. Replace them with the numbers from your own phone system, call center or CRM reports.

The total number of calls your business receives on an average day.

About 22 for a business open on weekdays, 30 for one that is open every day.

The share of calls that end without a conversation: unanswered, busy, abandoned in the queue and after hours.

The share of missed calls nobody ever calls back.

The estimated share of those calls that would have turned into a sale, appointment or booking if returned.

The average amount of one sale, appointment or booking, in Turkish lira.

How many months the total covers. 12 months is one year.

Missed calls per month

This is an estimate and only as accurate as the values you enter. The loss is based on the average value of the transactions the unreturned calls could have brought in.

How to use it

Where to find your numbers

01

Inbound calls and the missed call rate

Your phone system or cloud PBX reports show inbound, answered and unanswered calls. Decide up front whether after-hours calls, busy signals and calls abandoned in the queue count, and use the same definition every time.

02

Calls never returned

Compare the list of missed calls with the outbound calls made in the same period. If your team doesn't log callbacks, counting a few days by hand still gives you a starting value.

03

Conversion rate and transaction value

Use your CRM or booking records to see how many phone enquiries turn into a sale, appointment or booking. If you're unsure, start with a low value and treat the result as a range.

Method

How we calculate it

The calculator is a simple chain of six multiplications. No industry averages or hidden factors are added: the result comes only from the values you enter. Each step also shows the same calculation with the example values.

  1. 01

    Inbound calls per month

inbound calls per day × days a month you take calls

    With the example values40 × 22 = 880

  2. 02

    Missed calls per month

inbound calls per month × missed call rate

    With the example values880 × 25% = 220

  3. 03

    Calls never returned

missed calls per month × share never returned

    With the example values220 × 60% = 132

  4. 04

    Estimated customers lost

calls never returned × conversion rate

    With the example values132 × 20% = 26.4

  5. 05

    Estimated monthly loss

estimated customers lost × average transaction value

    With the example values26.4 × ₺1,500 = ₺39,600

  6. 06

    Total for the period

estimated monthly loss × period to calculate (months)

    With the example values₺39,600 × 12 = ₺475,200

What the calculation leaves out

The calculator only counts transactions lost through missed calls that are never returned. The result does not include:

  • Repeat purchases and a customer's long-term value; each lost customer counts as a single transaction.
  • The same person calling several times; every missed call counts separately. If many calls are repeats, lower the missed call rate to match.
  • Staff time spent on callbacks and the extra work created by customers who call again.
  • How satisfied the people who couldn't reach you are, and what they think of your business.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the result?

The result is only as accurate as the values you enter. The calculator uses no industry averages; it multiplies the numbers you give it. Read the result as an estimate of how big the missed call problem is for you, not as an exact loss.

Where do the starting values come from?

The starting values are examples chosen to show how the calculator works. They are not data from any industry or business. The result becomes meaningful once you enter the numbers from your own reports.

Are the numbers I enter saved?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and the values you enter are never sent to a server. They are gone when you close the page.

How do I measure my missed call rate?

Divide the number of inbound calls that ended without a conversation in a given period by the total number of inbound calls in the same period. Decide up front whether after-hours calls, busy signals and calls abandoned in the queue are included, and use the same definition every time.

How can I reduce what missed calls cost me?

There are two ways: miss fewer calls, and return the ones you miss quickly. An AI voice agent that answers during busy hours and after hours helps with the first; an automatic callback that collects unanswered calls in a list and calls them back helps with the second. Our article on missed calls covers both in detail.
